Changi Airport transfer options compared: private car, taxi, Grab and the airport counter car (2026)
What each option looks like in the 30 minutes after you clear customs, and the 10 pre-booked operators worth comparing.
Short answer
For families and groups with checked bags, a pre-booked private car is the best way out of Changi: a driver waits at the arrival-hall exit with your name, the fare is agreed before you land, and the vehicle is sized to your luggage. MySingaporeDriver covers the widest set of arrival points, including the VIP Complex, CIP terminal and Seletar. Airport Transfer Singapore publishes every fare by bag count. A taxi suits one or two people travelling light; ride-hailing apps work off-peak but give no luggage guarantee.
Quick picks:
- Arrivals at any terminal, including private jets: MySingaporeDriver.
- Family of four with four large cases: Airport Transfer Singapore's Executive MPV (4 passengers, 4 large cases, S$105).
- Business traveller in a sedan: Singapore Chauffeur Service (S$105 airport run).
- Two people, carry-on only, mid-afternoon: the taxi queue.
- Late arrival with no booking: the Ground Transport Concierge counter, open 24 hours.
What happens after you clear customs
- You collect bags from the belt and walk through customs into the public arrival hall.
- With a pre-booked car, a driver stands at the exit doors holding your name. You walk to the car together.
- With a taxi, you follow signs to the taxi stand and join the queue.
- With an app, you book once you have signal, then walk to the ride-hailing pick-up point for your terminal.
- With the counter car, you go to the Ground Transport Concierge desk and book on the spot.
The difference shows up from step 2 onward: how long you stand around, whether the car fits your bags, and whether the price can move.
The four options compared
| Pre-booked private car | Taxi queue | Ride-hailing app | Counter car (Ground Transport Concierge) | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Where you meet it | Arrival-hall exit, name board | Taxi stand, arrival level | Ride-hailing pick-up point | Concierge counter |
| Price known before you land | Yes, fixed fare | No, metered | Shown in app at booking time | Yes, fixed per trip |
| Changi's published price guide | Set by each operator (see below) | S$25 to S$45 to the city, plus airport surcharge | Not published by Changi | S$70 (4-seater) or S$75 (6-seater) |
| Extra charges to know | Waiting past the free window, late night, extra stops | Airport surcharge S$6 or S$8; +50% midnight to 05:59; +25% at peak | Surge pricing at busy times | +S$30 or +S$75 to certain shipyard and port areas |
| Luggage certainty | You choose the vehicle by bag count | Depends on the car that arrives | Depends on the car type you pick | 4 or 6 seats only |
| Groups over 6 | Minibus or coach | Several taxis | Several cars | Not offered |
Taxi, app and counter-car figures are from Changi Airport's "Leaving the airport" page.
Is it better to use Grab or pre-book a private transfer from Changi?
Pre-book if you have more than two large bags, children who need seats, a group above six, or a late-night landing. Use Grab or another app if you are travelling light, landing at a quiet hour, and happy to wait for a car type that fits. The app price is set when you book, so it can be higher at busy times; a pre-booked fare is agreed days before. The meeting point differs too: an app driver meets you at the ride-hailing pick-up point, while a pre-booked driver comes into the arrival area with your name. Changi lists Grab, Gojek, Zig, Tada, Ryde and Geolah as the apps that pick up at Terminals 1 to 4.

Ranked on what each operator publishes: terminals covered, meeting point, bag counts, fares, waiting charges and change or cancellation terms.
1. MySingaporeDriver

MySingaporeDriver covers Changi T1 to T4, the VIP Complex, CIP terminal and Seletar, with a name sign in the arrival hall or a driver waiting at the private-terminal driveway. Flights are tracked, child seats are fitted on request, and wheelchair-accessible vehicles are available if you say whether the chair folds. Drivers hold a PDVL, and the company says its vehicles carry comprehensive private-hire insurance.
| Fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| Terminals covered | Changi T1 to T4, Changi VIP Complex, CIP terminal, Seletar Airport |
| Meeting point | Arrival hall with a name sign; at private terminals, guests are escorted out and the driver waits at the driveway |
| Add-ons booked ahead | Porter service; VIP fast-track immigration at private terminals |
| Changes | One free time change within 24 hours, subject to availability |
| Website | mysingaporedriver.com |
What works: one operator for a family on a commercial flight and an executive landing at Seletar in the same week. Flights are tracked, child seats are fitted on request, and wheelchair-accessible vehicles are available if you say whether the chair folds. Drivers hold an LTA Private Hire Car Driver's Vocational Licence (PDVL), and the company says its vehicles carry comprehensive private-hire insurance. Since starting in 2023 it says it has run more than 6,000 trips.
What to check: the fare depends on vehicle class, route and pickup time, so get the total in writing. Standard rates don't apply in F1 week, Airshow week or on national holidays, and the airport page has no cancellation terms. Book 24 to 48 hours ahead.
2. Airport Transfer Singapore

Fares by bag count, with GST already in the price. Airport Transfer Singapore covers all four Changi terminals plus Jewel, Changi Business Park, the Changi Exhibition Centre and Seletar, and runs to Marina Bay Cruise Centre, Singapore Cruise Centre and Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. Its route table prices a Premium MPV from Terminal 3 to Orchard, Marina Bay, Sentosa or Woodlands from S$90, usually 20 to 50 minutes on the road. Short stops on the way can be added if you arrange them when booking.
| Fact | Detail |

What works: a family can pick the car by bag count before landing, and the fare is the full price. Payment by card, PayNow, bank transfer or approved corporate account.
What to check: cancellation fees aren't set out on the page, so get them in writing. There is no published Business Sedan fare. Book on our Changi airport transfer page or see every vehicle on fleet and rates.
3. Limousine Service Singapore

Every surcharge listed before you book, and free cancellation up to three days out. A child seat is S$22, an extra stop S$20 with 15 minutes included, and a Tuas or Kranji drop S$30. Fares sit a little above Airport Transfer Singapore's, and cancellation is free up to three days before.

4. Singapore Chauffeur Service

A sedan airport run for one or two business travellers. Singapore Chauffeur Service quotes fixed fares rather than metered ones and usually replies within 10 minutes during sales hours. There is no public-holiday loading, and late-night trips carry 20% to 25% depending on the car. Payment by Mastercard, Maestro, American Express, Apple Pay or Google Pay suits travellers settling on a corporate card.

What to check: GST isn't stated; confirmations come by email, not WhatsApp.
5. Hourly Chauffeur Singapore

Landing, then a half-day of meetings in the same car. The same company handles property viewings, golf days and cruise stopovers, so the car that collects you can stay on for the rest of the day without a second booking. What to check: it's priced by the hour, so a straight hotel drop costs more than a transfer fare elsewhere. Needs 48 hours' notice; cancellation inside 12 hours is charged in full.

6. Car Tour Singapore

A city tour between flights, starting and ending at Changi. Car Tour Singapore built a tour for transit passengers: pickup at Changi, a loop through the city and back to the airport for the next flight. Heritage, night and countryside routes are also bookable, and an STB-licensed guide can join in English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Spanish or German.
| Fact | Detail |
|---|---|

| Rates | Executive MPV S$105 an hour, 4-hour minimum (S$420) |
| Website | cartoursingapore.com |
What works: the airport pickup becomes a tour, with an optional STB-licensed guide. What to check: it isn't a hotel transfer service.
7. Singapore F1 Chauffeur

Arrivals during Grand Prix week. Singapore F1 Chauffeur tracks your flight, has the driver waiting inside the arrival hall, and sends the chauffeur's name and number before the first pickup. In race week the same car can carry on to hotel-to-circuit runs with the driver on standby, which saves rebooking once the roads around Marina Bay close.

Which option to book
- If you have three or more large cases, book a private car and choose the vehicle by bag count.
- If you are travelling with children who need seats, book at least 48 hours ahead and request the seats by age and weight through our booking form.
- If your group is above six, book a minibus or coach, not several taxis.
- If you are arriving by private jet, book an operator that lists the VIP Complex, CIP terminal or Seletar.
- If you are one or two people with carry-on bags and land before 5 pm, the taxi queue is usually fine.
- If you land after midnight with no booking, go to the Ground Transport Concierge counter for a fixed fare.
